State governors are against N18,000 minimum wage - Oshiomhole

Edo State GOVERNOR and former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, told Nigerian workers at the 10th Delegate Conference of the NLC that many of the state governors are against the N18, 000 new minimum wage already approved by President Goodluck Jonathan, the Council of States and passed by the National Assembly.Gov. Oshiomhole told the workers not to expect a smooth passage and implementation of the new minimum wage.In what looks like an inciting statement, he urged Nigerians to stop lamenting and fight for their rights in building a better society.Though, Oshiomhole said the Edo State Government would pay N18, 000 minimum wage, he said some of his colleagues were not favourably disposed to paying the amount.He said: You dont have many friends as regards minimum wage amongst the governors. You are going to have problems with many governors because some will say they cannot pay. Some may have reasons and some may not. The fact of the matter is that workers deserve their pay and I will implement it without delay.
