Kroenke targetsGunners gloryAfter seizing power with £300m swoop

Published by Tribune on Tue, 12 Apr 2011

STAN Kroenke has vowed to bring success to Arsenal after sealing a controlling stake at the Emirates with a £300million swoop. The American businessman has also agreed terms for the purchase of the remaining stock which values the club at £731m.Kroenke must now bid to buy up the remaining shares after taking their stake to approximately 62.89 per cent after reaching undertakings with major shareholders, Danny Fiszman and Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith.Why dont we want the American at our club Call me old-fashioned, but we dont need his money and we dont want his sort. Our objective is keep Arsenal English, albeit with a lot of foreign players.Americans are buying up chunks of the Premiership football clubs and not because of their love of football but because they see an opportunity to make money. They know absolutely sweet FA about our football and we dont want these type of people involved.Mr Kroenke has shown himself a man who values and respects history and traditions of this very special club we cherish.Terms have also been agreed for KSE to buy up the remaining share capital at a cost of £11,750 a share. The move has been sparked by the serious illness of Fiszman, who wants to sell his stake having tied up his affairs in a beneficial trust, knowing his children do not wish to maintain links with the club.Kroenke Sports Enterprises has gradually built its stake in the Gunners since first buying 9.9 per cent of shares in 2007, Kroenke said in a statement to the Stock Exchange: We are excited about the opportunity to increase our involvement with and commitment to Arsenal.Arsenal is a fantastic club with a special history and tradition and a wonderful manager in Arsene Wenger. We intend to build on this rich heritage and take the club to new success. I am delighted that Peter Hill-Wood has agreed to support us by continuing as chairman.
