Agbani Darego, now an orphan

It is probably no longer news that former-Miss World, Agbani Darego, is now officially an orphan. The pretty lady recently lost her father, Chief Asenite Darego. He was 72 years old.Word has it that the man died in London, United Kingdom. The deceased was a retired Customs official.The 29-year-old first black Miss World had lost her mother, Inaewo, eight years ago to breast cancer.The Abonnema, Rivers State-born lady was sent to boarding school in a bid to shield her from her mother's failing health. As a teenager, Agbani longed to be a model, and despite her conservative father's wishes, she auditioned for the M-Net Face of Africa modeling competition, but was not chosen as a finalist. She however moved on to participate in the 2001 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria competition.As a result of her mum's demise, Agbani has become is a patron of a breast cancer awareness program.You would recall that her uncle and the deceased's brother, Apostle Enemenia Darego, was abducted some weeks ago. He was on his way home from a family meeting towards the burial arrangement of Agbani's dad.The abductors initially demanded N20 million ransom. However, the Apostle was miraculously released a few days later.
