A Bic pen ad that sparked outrage for encouraging women to 'think like a man' has inspired tons of funny spoofs

Published by Business Insider on Wed, 12 Aug 2015

Pen manufacturer Bic South Africa has found itself under an unfavorable spotlight after publishing a less-than-pleasant ad on its Facebook page in honor of the country's National Women's Day. The ad, which you can see below, implies that women excel at looking good while men excel at thinking, and has received a wave of criticism from the public.Commenters were quick to lambast the photo on the brand's social media page. As The Sunday Times in Johannesburg reported, Jes Graham wrote: "Why am I expected to look like a child' Why am I expected to see the world through a masculine lens' Why am I expected to 'think like a man' but not expected to act "like a man" on my so-called manly thoughts' There are so many different ways Bic could've celebrated women that don't try and dictate how women must live their lives. I'm disappointed."Unfortunately, this isn't the first time Bic has been accused of sexist marketing. Back in 2012, Bic launched these pen models especially for women and was called out by comedian Ellen DeGeneres. Bic has since removed the #HappyWomensDay ad from its Facebook page and apologized, explaining that it didn't intend to cause offense, but that did not stop Twitter users from launching their own funny parodies.Check out the parodies below.
