Energy commodity trading in Nigeria: An overview of financing and security structures (Part 1)

International trade in energy commodities (i.e. the buying and selling of crude oil /condensates and refined products) has over the years oscillated in response to global demand, production quotas of oil producing states as determined by OPEC and emerging technological advances in alternative energy sources such as wind, solar energy and biofuels. Energy commodity trading involves significant commercial risks, some of which are discussed below.
