Published by Tribune on Fri, 16 Mar 2012

HUNDREDS of Muslim faithful from all parts of Oyo State and beyond, as well as friends and well-wishers from outside Ibadan converged on the Anobi- lonigba Central Mosque, Olorunsogo, Molete, Ibadan, on Sunday, 11 March, 2012, to witness the turbaning of Alhaji Yisa Adewale Adele, a Deputy Editor with the Nigerian Tribune in charge of Community News, as the Agbesinga Adini of the mosque. The colourful and well-attended ceremony for the seasoned journalist also attracted many pen pushers from various media houses in the country, including members of League of Veteran Journalists.Anchored by respected Muslim clerics, including the Chief Imam of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Apata, Ibadan, Alhaji Mahumad Eleshinmeta, the Chairman, Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim Wing), Alhaji Taofeek Akewugbagold, Alhaji Mahmud Folaranmi Kareem, the host and the Chief Imam of the Anobi-lonigba Central Mosque, who admonished Alhaji Adele and other awardees on the need for them to see Islamic titles not only as a call to service in the vineyard of Almighty Allah, but also as a service to humanity by using their spiritual call to propagate the messages of Allah to every individual. In his sermon, Alhaji Elesinmeta impressed it on the awardees and other guests to always have it at the back of their minds that there was no service or contribution from human being that could be compared to that rendered for God, stressing that there was nobody that could keep the type of records Almighty Allah would keep on individual's activities on earth.Alhaji Mahmud Kareem also tasked Adele and other recipients of the Islamic titles to contribute their quota to the development of Islam in Nigeria, while urging them to render their services with pure hearts.Alhaji Taofeek Akewugbagold also admonished recipients to always have the fear of God in their minds, stressing that this should be their guiding principle at all times. The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, was represented by a powerful delegate led by all the members of the Oyomesi of Oyo town.Guests were later entertained to a classical merry-making at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre at Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State.
