ANCLA boss berates poor port development levy management

Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA)s National President, Prince Olayiwola Shittu, has expressed disappointment with the observable poor management of the seven per cent port development levy, and called on the authorities to discontinue with the collection.Shittu made the call just as his campaign organisation popularly called POSCO also expressed appreciation to maritime stakeholders for support Shittu enjoyed, even though the support was still inadequate to save the ANLCA boss from losing his election bid for the House of Representative, on the platform of a registered political party.The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) does not control any port any more, so why are they still collecting the money They should account for the money that they have so far collected for port development, counselled Shittu, who stressed that development might never match revenue collections, until those in charge of such collections were regularly made to account for their effortsMeanwhile, the Olayiwola Shittu Campaign Organisation POSCO has said it remains unmoved by its recent loss at the polls, and as such, might still make further strive in future elections.Though we didnt make it, we thank God for His blessings, and we are strengthened by the revelation of our weaknesses which embolden us to be well prepared for future participation, a statement from the group indicated.
