Day maintains two-shot lead over Spieth

Published by Business Insider on Sun, 16 Aug 2015

Kohler (United States) (AFP) - Australia's Jason Day maintained a two-shot lead over American Jordan Spieth through three holes Sunday in the final round of the 97th PGA Championship.Day, in search of his first major title, stretched his lead to three with a birdie at the par-five second at Whistling Straits that moved him to 16-under for the tournament. But Masters and US Open champion Spieth responded with a birdie at the par-three third to move to 14-under.Behind the leading duo, South African Branden Grace was 13-under after a birdie at the third, while India's Anirban Lahiri moved to 12-under with three birdies in his first six holes. On a sultry day on the shores of Lake Michigan, early starters showed Whistling Straits could give up some birdies -- notably American Ryan Moore with five straight birdies to open his round. However, with winds expected to pick up in the afternoon, the leaders could find the going tougher on the back nine of the par-72, 7,501-yard course.Join the conversation about this story
