What Elisabeth Moss Would Want A 'Mad Men' Spinoff To Be About

Published by Huffington Post on Fri, 21 Aug 2015

It seems pretty unlikely that we'll get a spinoff to Mad Men," which concluded its seven-season run earlier this year, but if it ever does actually happen, Elisabeth Moss has some ideas. During a conversation with HuffPost Live about her new film "Queen of Earth," hitting theaters Aug. 26, Moss answered a question about what she'd like to see in a potential Peggy-centric follow-up. "I suppose the continuation of work-life balance. I find that fascinating for men and women, and I think that's something that's so identifiable and something that people can't quite figure out," Moss said. "I think the idea of a woman being successful and in love and trying to balance those two is very interesting." The actress admitted than even in 2015, issues like pay equity and maternity leave often make it feel like we're still living in the "Mad Men" era. "Until there's equal pay for women, I don't think we're out of the dark," she said. Moss added that playing Peggy and engagingin conversations about being a woman in the workplace helped her along her own path to understanding feminism. "That's why Peggy was so identifiable to women, because she was not a bra-burner, she wasn't out there protesting, she wasn't doing those things that were very necessary for women to have done in the '60s," Moss said. "She was just saying, 'I don't understand why I can't make as much money as you do. That doesn't make any sense to me.' And that is another kind of feminist path."
