Pension fund: We'll deal with erring banks - CBNProbes: We won't leave CBN, others alone - Senate

THE governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Lamido Sanusi, has said the apex bank will punish any bank involved in the pension fund scam.Mallam Sanusi, while addressing the media at the end of the 82nd edition of the Monetary Policy Committee meeting in Abuja, said the CBN had requested for the details of the issues from the Federal Ministry of Finance.On the development in the economy, Mallam Sanusi said the international economic outlook had slightly improved when compared with 2011. Reviewing the domestic economy, Mallam Sanusi disclosed that the committee noted the resurgence of inflationary pressure starting in January, after it had moderated towards the end of 2011.He disclosed further that the committee recog-nised that it was imperative to ensure that the growth path noticed in the economy was sustained.Meanwhile, the Senate, on Tuesday, said it would not hands off the probe of government agencies, especially the revenue making agencies, including the CBN and the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), among others.Senate spokesman, Senator Enyinnaya Aba-ribe, who stated this in a media interaction on Tuesday, said the Senate was aware of negative publications being sponsored against the National Assembly by some agencies, after the passage of some resolutions recently.
