Shell commissions 11 mono-pumps for Oghior community

ELEVEN mono-pumps have been commissioned by the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) at Oghior, Udu Local Government Area, Delta State under the company's Global Memorandum of Understanding, GMoU.President General of the community, Chief Samuel Brigue, during the ceremony, thanked the SPDC for the gesture.He said the commissioning of the 11 mono-pumps marked another milestone in the history and relationship of the community and the SPDC.Brigue, who spoke through his vice, Mr Amos Ogidia, noted that SPDC also gave scholarship to17 students of Oghior origin in both tertiary institutions and secondary schools.He assured that the Community Trust, in conjunction with the community leadership, will ensure that the mono-pumps were spread across the five quarters of the community.Leader of the GMoU implementation team, SPDC West, Dr. (Mrs.) Benka-Coker, said the GMoU was delivering on its mandate, noting Oghior was the only community that has commissioned two projects in intervals of one month.She said: 'Good water as you all know is very essential to every human existence and from my examination on the mono-pumps, they met the World Health Organization standard and the water is potable because it is germs-free and that will make it to help members of the community health status.
