Jubilation as govt commissions 4 electricity projects at Uzo Uwani

THE people of Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State recently, went wild in jubilation as the state government commissioned rural electrification projects in four communities within the Umuluokpa area of the council. The benefiting communities were Amagu, Akiyi, Eziora and Ogboso Umulokpa.The State Commissioner for Rural Development, Dr Eric Oluedo, who represented Governor Sullivan Chime, performed the commissioning at Umulokpa amidst wild jubilation among the people.Addressing the mammoth crowd of the people of the communities at a reception organised shortly after, Dr Oluedo assured of the commitment of Governor Sullivan Chime's administration to transforming 472 communities in the state into modern rural cities by the next two years.According to him, this will entail provision of social amenities such as good roads, water, electricity, health care delivery and other dividends of democracy to facilitate over all development and improve the living standard of the masses.The commissioner stated that government would also, in the next two years, ensure that the rural electrification projects for communities in the state were connected to the national gird to guarantee steady power supply.Oluedo told the people of Uzo-Uwani local government council that some other rural electrification projects going on in communities including Igga, Asaba, Nkpologu and Uvuru would be completed and commissioned in a couple of weeks.
