Integrity Force wins Edo League, ready for National Club Championship

INTEGRITY Force Cricket Club on Sunday dethroned F16 of Benin to become the new champion of the Edo Cricket League, which features teams from the Edo/Delta axis.To become kings of the Edo 2011/2012 season, Integrity Force defeated No Limit Cricket Club by two wickets in a tension-soaked game that attracted all the secondary and primary schools' cricket teams in the state.Also there were all the league's participating clubs, representative of theChairman, Africa Cricket Association, Prof. Anthony Okunbor (NCF board member),Edo State Director of Sports, parents, friends and cricket enthusiasts from the axis.To demonstrate its determination to win this year's championship, Integrity Force, which conceded the right to bat first to No Limit, ensured its opponent's batsmen did not cause it much harm through tight bowling from Owen Uhunamure, who accounted for three wickets for 15 runs in six overs, and James Imanhalimi (two wickets for 10 runs in six overs).No Limit ended with120 runs for nine wickets in 30 overs with batsman of the series award winner, Ehizogie Musa, scoring 30 runs. In reply, the Integrity Force batsmen played with extreme caution, getting 121 runs for eight wickets in 25 overs, with the controlled attacking display by Nigerian U-19 former international player, Duro Akayan (43 runs), the delight of the spectators.No Limit's captain and bowler of the series award winner, Nosa Agbonwanegbe, got two wickets for 15 runs in six overs, while Maurice Ajao also weighed in with two wickets for 18 in six overs.At the end of the game, outstanding performers during the season were rewarded, with Duro Akayan of Integrity Force getting the Wicketkeeper of the Series plaque. Other awardees included Integrity Force's Eghosa Aghedo (Best Young Player) and Andrew Ighojopha (No Limit Cricket Club, Fielder of the Series).There was also Blessing Okoro (F16, Cricketer of the Series), while Adolo College won the Roland Ilube Trophy for Champion Secondary School. The Man of the Seriesof the secondary school competition went to Festus Olaye, while Continental Primary School took the Andrew Amadasun trophy for U-13 competition, just as David Ogbimi won the Man of the Series trophy for the U-13 category.
