Community newspaper publishers condemn bomb attacks

The National President of the Association of Community Newspapers Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Mrs Sotonye Toby Fulton, has condemned the spate of bombings in the Northern Nigeria, especially the incident at the Saint Finbar Catholic Church, Jos, Plateau State, recently.Toby Fulton disclosed this in Asaba, Delta State, at the swearing in of the new state executive council of the ACNPN, stressing that the Holy Quran does not preach violence, just as Islamic religion does not promote disharmony among diverse people.She declared 'ACNPN has called on all Muslims in Nigeria and especially, those in Northern part of the country, to preach peace, love and unity among its fold and cautioned the youths to desist from acts capable of disintegrating Nigeria.According to the national president and Publisher of the Gist Newspaper based in Pport-Harcourt, Rivers State, the Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria commiserates with the families of those who lost their lives or those injured in the mayhem, adding that the authorities involved should put a stop to the trend before its get out of hand.Mrs Sotonye Fulton, equally appealed to the Federal Government to provide jobs for the teeming youths so as to stem down crime rate in the country.Fulton, an entrepreneur, journalist and publisher, described the Jos mayhem as act which had painted the image of the country black before the international community and potential investors.She, however, maintained that publishers of community newspapers under the platform of ACNPN, were ready to partner with the Federal Government to stop the ugly scenario in the country.
