Senator Abatemi-Usman bemoans 'targeted' killings in Ebiraland

The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman, has condemned the incessant targeted killings in Ebiraland.The Senator made the condemnation in the wake of the killing of one Jaguda Ichogudo by unknown gunmen.In recent times, there had been resurgence of assassinations in the district, which led to the imposition of ban on okada movement beyond 7: 00 p.m.Among the victims of the serial and mysterious murder so far were traditional rulers, an Imam, a pastor, businessmen, a technocrat and others.In a statement issued by Michael Jegede, the Senator's Special Assistant on Media, Abatemi-Usman, while charging the security agents to arrest the situation as a matter of urgency, warned that nobody should take advantage of the current security challenges to unleash violence in the area.The statement quoted him as saying that, 'everybody must remain calm, while the law enforcement agents should carry out their investigation in order to unravel the mystery behind the killings. Any group or persons found unleashing violence or formenting crisis in respect of the current situation will be severely dealt with. Nobody will take us back to the dark days in Ebiraland. We must strive hard to sustain the relative peace in our land to usher in development. These killings must stop now.
