FG okays dredging of River Benue

Sequel to the successful dredging of the River Niger, the Federal Government has approved the dredging of River Benue from Yola to Makurdi, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku has announced.Briefing State House correspondents yesterday after the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan, Maku said the project will improve inland waterway transportation and commerce while reducing cargo impact on roads.According to him, FEC approved a contract in the sum of N221.03 million for the consultancy services for the study and design of the Yola-Makurdi navigational route.
