Bomb blast: Borno govt donates N5m to victims

The Borno State government has donated the sum of five million naira to victims of last Saturdays bomb blast that occurred at Anguwan Doki and Abbaganaram wards in the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), during the National Assembly election.A delegation led by the Secretary to the Borno State Government, Ambassador Baba Ahmed Jidda, made the donation to the victims at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) on Thursday.Jidda, who visited the female orthopaedic ward and male surgical ward where the victims were being treated, commiserated with the victims and encouraged them, especially Mrs Racheal John Samari, the policewoman who lost her hands and limbs in the incident.Speaking to newsmen after the visit, Ambassador Jidda said he was touched by the condition of the victims, more especially the policewomans and assured them that the government would continue to assist them.He later sympathised with the families of the victims and expressed gratitude to the management of the UMTH for providing the victims with the needed medical care.The SSG also used the forum to appeal to those behind the ugly incident to have a rethink as God would judge them in the hereafter and prayed that such an incident would not be witnessed again in the state.Among those who received the highest donation of N1 million were the policewoman, Mrs Samari and the family of a final year student of University of Maiduguri, who lost his life. Others, including a corps member, received the sum of N200,000 each.
