Motorists want traffic light changed

AN appeal has gone to the Kwara State government to change the traffic light installed along Maraba road Ilorin, to avoid daily traffic jam.The traffic light, since it started working  has not been  functioning very well, compared to the one installed along Taiwo road in Ilorin.Some motorists, who spoke with Community News, lamented that the traffic light was not well timed.According to them, the period the traffic light normally stops motorist was longer than the period or time that it usually ask motorists to move ahead, noting that this situation was becoming difficult for motorists plying Maraba-Amilengbe-Sango-Polytechnic and University Teaching Hospital permanent site to get vehicles.They mentioned that because of the malfunctioning of the traffic light, many commercial vehicles, at early hour of the day, normally avoid the road.They equally noted that in an effort to avoided heavy traffic at Maraba when going to either Sango-Polythecnic or University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, some motorists used Flower Garden en-rout Fate road and came out at Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture.The motorists, therefore, appealed to the state government to replace the traffic light with modern one or position traffic warders and police traffic men to control the heavy traffic at Maraba pending when new one would be installed by the state government.
