And indeed, the band was playing the "Star Trek" theme during the performance in the middle of a game against South Dakota, which included space-related images and music. (NOTE: The video above and some of the images below may be considered NSFW for some.)"There was absolutely no intent to display anything other than the Enterprise and the Jayhawk in battle,"Frank Tracz, director of K-State's marching band, wrote on Facebook."If I am guilty of anything it would be the inability to teach the drill in a manner that these young people could have succeeded."Tracz included a diagram showing the intended formation:A printout of the schematics obtained by The Collegianfrom a member of the band also shows the more Enterprise-like formation:The Collegian obtained a photo of the Marching Band's formation from one member:http://t.co/EN0mKR2Xdj pic.twitter.com/N1H63rdAnE Tate Steinlage (@SteinlageT) September 6, 2015Tracz will meetwith school administratorson Tuesday, according toKCTV-5, and both the bandand K-State University President Kirk Schulz issued apologies on Twitter: I am sorry if anyone was offended by the performance at half-time. https://t.co/5589bLIJRs Kirk H. Schulz (@kstate_pres) September 6, 2015On social media, not everyone believed it was the Enterprise: Can u imagine being in the #KState band & calling ur parents abt tonight's performance, "hi mom! Look for me. I'm the left ball."
