Fabian Delph Injury: Update on Manchester City Midfielder's Hamstring and Return

Published by Bleacher Report on Tue, 08 Sep 2015

Manchester City star Fabian Delph injured his hamstring less than a minute into England's Euro 2016 qualifier against Switzerland on Tuesday, casting doubt over his availability for the upcoming Premier League match against in-form Crystal Palace. Continue for updates.Delph Injures Hamstring Seconds Into QualifierTuesday, September 8As reported by BBC Sport's Phil McNulty, Delph lasted less than 20 seconds for the Three Lions before suffering a hamstring injury, and he was immediately replaced by Everton's Ross Barkley:The 25-year-old midfielder moved to the Etihad Stadium from Aston Villa during the summer but has so far struggled to make an impact for the Premier League leaders. As shared by Oliver Holt of the Daily Mail, this latest injury is yet another setback for the new Citizen:Delph suffered a hamstring injury in pre-season during his City debut, per Sky Sports, and while that ailment turned out to be less severe than initially feared, one has to assume this latest setback points to a deeper problem. Some questions may be asked about manager Roy Hodgson's decision to start Delph, despite the injury concerns, but the midfielder was healthy enough to make an appearance for City against Watford on August 29.Expect City to be careful with Delph moving forward and not allow him to return to the pitch until they're 100 percent certain his hamstring has fully healed.
