Alaafin inaugurates 1st Oranyan festival committee

The adage Aji se bi Oyo Alaafin lan'ri Oyo Alaafin ki se bi enikakan '(Oyo Alaafin sets the pace for others to imitate and never will Oyo Alafin imitates any town) is really playing itself out, as the entire Oyo town is girding its loins in preparation for the first ever Oranyan day.There are many towns and villages celebrating the communal revival and re union popularly christened a festival. This has proved to be a rallying point for stepping up development and lubrication of family ties and chords that sustained brotherhood and peaceful co'existence.'In line with the Oyo Alaafin tradition of excellence and pacesetting and the fact that the Alaafin of Oyo will never be involved in anything shoddy, filthy and substandard, the preparation for the first ever Oranyan festival, has to be done in tune with perfect finish.According to investigation, the Alaafin of Oyo has set up a committee headed by the Bashorun of Oyo, High Chief Yusuf Akinola Ayoola with the distinguished Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu as the vice chairman with the task to organise the most befitting first Oranyan festival for the Oyo Empire.The committee in response to Alaafin's order, has commenced business in earnest, making contact with corporate bodies and individuals who can be useful to the expectations of the assignment at hand.The committee has also stepped up its preparation by searching for a consultant who will help in engendering the celebration of the festival.'The Bashorun's committee is moving faster and working round the clock at ensuring that the first Oranyan festival shakes the socio ' cultural landscape of Nigeria,' said a source.'You know that this is not just a mere festival, this is going to be one festival out of many, which will involved towns and villages of the old Oyo empire, I mean expecting mass involvement of people from Ghana, Togo and republic du Benin where the first Oranyan spread his tentacles, authority and supremacy on.' The the date is being kept in the pouch for now as the committee is mindful of the corporate sponsors and the output of the consultant.However, the source revealed that 'The first Oranyan festival will definitely come up before June this year, as the Lord pleases. And it is going to be packaged in a way which a celebration has never been showcased as you know that the Alaafin is the paragon of culture and tradition of Yoruba.'Next Week: Why Oranyan festival
