Greensprings Schools embarks on football tour of UK

STUDENTS of Greensprings Schools yesterday departed the country for a 10-day football tour of Manchester City in the United Kingdom (UK).According to the itinerary made available to The Guardian on Tuesday, the students left Nigeria aboard KLM to Manchester and were expected to visit various places during the tour. Tomorrow, the team will watch the English FA Cup semi-final clash between Manchester United and Manchester City at their Willow Bank Hotel and also visit places like Manchester Museums, shops as well as Alton Towers Theme Park.There are plans by the tour organisers to take the students to watch some Premiership matches during their stay in the UK. They will visit the Stamford Bridge, home of Chelsea FC, as well as Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square (London Underground). The main thrust of the tour is soccer school with Manchester City coaches.During a recent interview with the school director, Lai Koiki, she said the tour became necessary to expose the students and that the trip to UK was a follow-up to their 2010 tour. She further disclosed that there were plans to embark on basketball tour of the United States, adding that there are enormous advantages from the trip.
