Smart Campaign Trail Footwear

Published by Guardian on Fri, 15 Apr 2011

OVER the past fortnight politicians have been cris-crossing the country running their campaigns for election into plum government posts. As the men have moved their wives have accompanied them. Some females who are seeking elective posts have also been moving back and forth their constituencies, occasionally with the support of the first Ladies of their states or the women running for deputy governors seats. Some such women include Dame Patience Jonathan, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, Roli Uduaghan, and Hajia Amina Sambo.Others are gubernatorial aspirant Pauline Tallen, Joke Adefulire, who hopes to be deputy governor of Lagos after the April elections and others, wives of some serving legislative big wigs such as Yemisi Suswam and Mrs, David Mark have also been on the campaign trail with Dame Jonathan. While their support and efforts are commendable, it is a mystery how these women attend these energy-sapping events decked to the nines in heavy head ties, lace blouses and wrappers. Mrs. Jonathan particularly favours the double wrapper of the Niger delta woman. Some may say it is impossible for these Madams to walk around in T-shirts and jeans or skirts and that is understandable, given their exalted positions. However, they can do themselves big favours by keeping their footwear simple and low heeled.Rather than strut in beautiful but high killer heels, they can choose to wear flat or low-heeled sandals like these ones featured here. These sandals designed by Italian Giallo Positano, are a dream come true. They are jewelled with pretty beads and baubles, and the heels make them easy to wear. For one thing, these low heels will not put pressure on calf muscles even if the women have3 to stand or sit for long periods, and they are pretty enough to match any set of wrappers whether they are made from bright Ankara, lace or heavy George fabrics.Shoes: Forzieri
