Ekiti NULGE boss laid to rest

AMID wailing by members of his family and the Labour movement, body of the late President of Ekiti State chapter of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Mr. Ayo Afolalu, was buried yesterday in his Ilawe-Ekiti home.Afolalu and three other officials of NULGE died in a motor accident along Benin-Owo road last Tuesday.Speaking during the funeral service at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Ilawe-Ekiti, Governor Kayode Fayemi described the incident as 'a very sad day in the Ekiti history'.He added that the state has lost one of its most committed stakeholders, describing Afolalu as 'very committed, not only as a union leader, but also as an Ekiti person'.Fayemi, who said he was shocked to hear of the death of the Labour leader, added that the crowd who attended the church for the funeral service was a testimony that he lived a fulfilled life not only as a union leader who fought for the interests of his members, but also as a respected community leader and philanthropist.He pledged that the state government would assist Afolalu's family and give his daughter, who is a student of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, scholarship.
