Police in Jigawa arrest 30 suspectsfor electoral offences

THE Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 1, Abuaka Muhd, has disclosed that the state command arrested 30 suspects for various electoral offences ranging from under-age voting, multiple possession of voters cards and multiple voting.Muhd, who briefed journalists at the police headquarters in Dutse, said the police recorded 16 cases of electoral malpractice. He added that the culprits would be charged to court after investigations while those found to be innocent would be released.Admitting that there were inadequate police personnel to man the polling units during last Saturdays election, he pledged to deploy more men for the presidential election.Muhd, who tactically dodged a question on the joint rejection of the results of last Saturdays election by the three main opposition parties in the state, averred that where there is competition, the losers are often wont to blame someone else.He praised the police and other security agencies for their roles in the peaceful conduct of the polls. He urged voters to always be law-abiding.
