The controversial church gift

For over one week now, Nigerians have been debating the merits and demerits of the rehabilitation of St. Stephens Anglican Church in President Goodluck Jonathans village, Otuoke in Bayelsa State, by a contractor to the Federal Government. Reports on the recent dedication ceremony of the church quote the president as saying he had complained to the contractor on the aging of his village church, and the company, identified as Gitto Construzioni Generali Company Limited (CGC), elected to reconstruct the church and donate it to his community.
