Chandler Parsons Injury: Updates on Mavericks Forward's Knee and Recovery

Dallas Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons has not been fully cleared for the start of training camp as he continues to recover from knee surgery. Parsons, 26, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in May to fixcartilagedamage. He missed 10 of Dallas' last 11 games, including four of five in its first-round loss to the Houston Rockets. Despite pain, Parsonsattemptedto playin Game 1 of the series, scoring 10 points on 5-of-15 shooting, before being shut down.Earl K. Snead of the Mavericks' official website reported Parsons is still planning to be ready by opening night. Given their wild offseasonmost notably DeAndre Jordan's last-minute switcheroothe Mavs will need all hands on deck next season. They're among the most likely Western Conference teams to fall into the lottery in 2015-16, having lost Tyson Chandler during the Jordan fiasco and being unable to make a hugesplashin freeagency.Matthews, who signed an eyebrow-raising $70 million deal, is currently recovering from a torn Achilles. With him and Parsons on the shelf, it's likely the Mavs will spend most of camp without their starting wings on the floor together.
