Electricity kills 4 in Southern Kaduna

Tragedy struck in Southern Kaduna last Tuesday when four people were electrocuted in Kaura Local Government Area of the state, leaving four others in critical condition.The villagers told Community News that their people died following a midnight electric spark at Gizagwai Village near Manchok. Property worth thousands of naira were also destroyed in some houses in the area.They said the incident occurred when a high tension cable of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) fell on the distribution wire, ignited it and trapped the people in their rooms after a heavy rainstorm in the area. The dead were Mr and Mrs Titus Maiturare, Isaac Jatau, Kato Skip and sadly, Mrs Maiturare died in an attempt to rescue her husband who was trapped.Chairman of Kaura Local Government Area, Mrs Florence Aya, said that the dead had been deposited at the General Hospital in Kafanchan.
