If you've been holding out hope for one last heel run from Chris Jericho in WWE, then you're in luck.At Sunday's Night of Champions pay-per-view, Jericho made his shocking return to the company as Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose's mystery partner in their match against The Wyatt Family. It marked his first televised appearance for WWE since the start of the year (his one-off match against Neville on The Beast in the East special not withstanding).Despite a strong showing, the babytrio fell short of victory when Braun Strowman beat Jericho. Afterward, Jericho teased tension with his teammates by not saying a word and bumping shoulders with Ambrose on his way out.Although he was absent from Monday's Raw, the planting of the seeds for a future heel turn for Jericho were obviously intentional. Otherwise, the finish to the match wouldn't have been booked the way it was.Regardless of when Jericho resurfaces in storylines, it will be exciting to see him return to his roots as a heel. It's safe to assume that Jericho will be back as a regular on WWE TV through the next several months as the road to WrestleMania draws closer. Despite being on tour with Fozzy for the fall while simultaneously working house shows, he is expected to return to TV again before the end of the year.Since 2012, he has been working a limited schedule with the company and it's proved to be a success for the inaugural Undisputed champion. He has engaged in enjoyable programs with the likes of CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler and Bray Wyatt while also contesting excellent matches on a regular basis.Although his character has yet to grow stale, he was definitely in need of a shake-upand a heel turn would do the trick. In fact, he was one of the best bad guys wrestling had seen in years during his iconic feud with Shawn Michaels in 2008. He was relentless in ensuring the audience despised him, even if it meant not making any profit off merchandise sales.Following a near-five year stint as a dastardly villain, he turned babyface in the summer of 2012 and has been embracing the fans ever since. It was more a matter of when and not if we would see that side of Jericho again, and there isn't a better time than now for him to channel his inner heel.Jericho has been very vocal in the past about coming back only if he has something he can sink his teeth into. Henceforth, you won't see him make a one-off appearance in the Royal Rumble; he'll be back for a purpose, not for a paycheck. From Seth Rollins to Kevin Owens, there are plenty of up-and-coming stars for him to mix it up with during his latest run. As seen on Sunday, it appears he could be on a collision course toward a match with Dean Ambrose at some point. There's no doubting that they could contest a solid match, but the back-and-forth promos could be off the charts if they're allowed to go all out. Ambrose has taken a backseat in his feud with The Wyatt Family, and a rivalry with Jericho could get him back on the right track in singles competition. As for Jericho, a heel turn will provide him with plenty of fresh material to work with. Who can forget his classic encounters with the anonymous Raw general manager from over the years, or how he used to wear suits and call everyone "parasites"'He will go out of his way to make his opponents look strong, but he has never ceased to entertain the masses. As a heel, he'll inject new life into his on-air persona and add depth to the depleted roster in the process.GrahamMirmina, aka Graham "GSM" Matthews, is a journalism major atEndicottCollege.
