Yaba community to honour Jakande, Mobolaji Johnson

A group, Yaba Premier Industrial Estate Co-operative Multipurpose Society, Trade Fair Group, has concluded plans to honour first military governor, Lagos State, Brigadier General Mobolaji Johnson (retd); and first executive governor, Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande.Speaking ahead of the association's trade fair that will come up between April 11 and 12, President of the group, Olayiwola Jaji, noted that the event will include trade fair /exhibition and award ceremony.The first day, according to him, will be for exhibition of products by Yaba Estate industrialists, and the second day will be award-giving ceremony. Industrialists who have spent more than 30 years in the estate will be given awards.He noted that the Director-General, National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr Paul Orhii, will chair the occasion, while the fathers of the day are Brigadier General Mobolaji Johnson, Rtd, first Military governor, Lagos State and Alhaji Lateef Jakande, first executive governor.The special guest of honours are: Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Bank of Industry (BOI), governor,, Raymond Adenuga; Director, Lagos Office, Federal Ministry of Empowerment, Labour and productivity, Alhaja Nofisat Abiola Arogundade; while the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mrs Olusola Oworu will be the chief host. Also expected at the event is the Director of Co-operative Services Lagos State, Mrs Ayo Awokulehin.According to Jaji, 'this is the second series of our exhibition. We have repacked and improved the programme. Those who will attend this year's programme will be surprised to see that we produce world class goods here in the Estate. Our products compete favourably anywhere in the world.'Through the production of series of locally-made goods, he said members of Yaba Industrial Estate were growing the economy from the grassroots.
