Gunmen Kill Two, Injure Soldiers

TWO suspected Boko Haram gunmen yesterday killed two persons and injured five others, including two soldiers, in Gwange ward of Maiduguri metropolis.The gunmen were said to have hidden their rifles in long-flowing gowns, while attacking residents of Gwange around 9am, before members of the Joint Military/Police taskforce chased them into Bulunkutu and Costain suburbs.Confirming the incident, Borno State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Michael Zuokumor, said: As the security meeting commenced going on, we received a distress call from the Gwange Police Divisional headquarters that two suspected Boko Haram gunmen attacked residents of Gwange around 9am, shooting two soldiers in the head and lower abdomen.The suspects also shot and killed two other persons and injured three others, including a 12-year-old child, Samaila, in the abdomen.Zuokumor said the seven injured soldiers and persons were rushed to the University Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) for the treatment for gunshot wounds they sustained.
