SSS Quizzes 92 Politicians In Ekiti Ahead Of Todays Polls

Published by Guardian on Sat, 16 Apr 2011

EKITI State Command of the State Security Service (SSS) has summoned 92 people, including politicians and suspected political thugs capable of causing trouble in todays presidential election. A source in the command who described those invited as critical stakeholders, said the exercise was just to parley with them on how to avoid crisis during the election. Curiously, the mode of invitation was unusual. The SSS had through the electronic media in the state announced their names, saying they should report at its Bashiri offices in the state capital where a source said they were warned seriously not to do anything to disrupt peaceful conduct of the election. Some of those invited are:  Ademola Adeniyi (a.k.a Capone) , Okeya Olu (a.k.a Pistol) Mutairu (a.k.a Killer) Ebenezer Oladipo (a.k.a Papapa), Niyi Adedipe (a.k.a Apase I), Gbenga Erinmoje. Others are:  Akin Alebiosu, Tope Aluko, Bisi Kolawole, Bamidele Faparusi, Femi Olanrewaju (a.k.a Ijakoko), Rotimi Ojo, Although the security source described the invited politicians as decent persons, many were surprised because of their funny nicknames. Said the source: No fewer than 92 critical stakeholders in the state have been invited ahead of tomorrows (todays) election. Some of them have turned up and we have been meeting with them. They were invited aspart of our resolve to ensure that elections are free, fair, credible and free of violence in the state. We have to get it right in Ekiti State this time around. We areworking to ensure peace and stability in the state. We dont care who wins the elections because we dont belong to any political party. We want everybody to assist security agencies to ensure that we get it right in this state this time and not next year. It was also gathered that policemen, soldiers and operatives of the SSS had in the last one month been combing various spots in the state to dislodge hoodlums from their hideouts. The source added: The police, soldiers and the SSS officials have taken the battle to the den of thugs to flush them out. The operations have been successful because many of those who could have been used to cause breach of the peace during the polls, have been flushed out of the state.
