Niger Delta Ministry Is A Diplomatic Deceit, Says Senator

THE creation of the Ministry of the Niger Delta has been described as Federal Government's diplomatic deceit of the Niger Delta people.Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business, Ita Solomon Enang, who made the observation yesterday lamented what he referred to as continued deprivation of the Niger Delta despite the existence of the Ministry.Enang, who represents Uyo Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State, said the so-called Ministry was a design to divert the attention of the people of the South-south geopolitical zone from the real issues.He said: 'The Federal Government has done nothing in favour of the region with the creation of the Ministry other than the East-west Road project.'The Ministry is unnecessary; it has no extra fund. I still believe the creation is a diplomatic deceit.What was done was the transfer of the budget of the Ministry of Works and the road projects that were called Presidential Initiative Projects to the Ministry of Niger Delta.
