Entry for mascot design closes tomorrow

DEADLINE for the submission of entries for the design of the 18th National Sports Festival - Eko 2012 - mascot is tomorrow, the local organizing committee (LOC) has disclosed.Already, many entries have already been received. The LOC Secretary General, Dr. Kweku Tandoh, disclosed that the deadline would not be extended because of the high number of entries already received so far, just as he revealed that the chosen mascot's designer would go home with a handsome cash prize. The festival holds in Lagos from November to December.According to Tandoh, the Lagos State Government and members of the Eko 2012 LOC believe that Lagosians and Nigerians should be involved in the festival at all levels hence the decision to throw the mascot design open and reward the winner.He said: 'The mascot that will be picked will be based on the artist's understanding of the underlying theme of the National Sports Festival, which an average onlooker would be able to appreciate. It is expected that the entries should also reflect and be identifiable with Lagos State.'Tandoh urged interested members of the public to submit their designs in a sealed envelope addressed to, The Secretary General, Local Organising Committee, 18th National Sports Festival 'EKO 2012', Molade Okoya-Thomas Sports Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
