Presidential election: Osun result shows voters love for Aregbesola

Published by Tribune on Mon, 18 Apr 2011

THE result of the presidential election in Osun State, which was won overwhelmingly by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) is another indication of the acceptance of Governor Rauf Aregbesolas administration in the state. This was the conclusion of the chairman of the state chapter of the ACN, Elder Adelowo Adebiyi, while speaking on the outcome of the presidential election, at the Government House, Osogbo, on Sunday.Members of the electorate in Osun, Adebiyi said, had come to recognise the ability of the governor to turn things around, after many years of decay occasioned by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration in the state. The results of the presidential election, where people voted for the ACN candidate, is an indication of the massive support Governor Aregbesola enjoys among the people of Osun State.Having demonstrated within such a very short time that governance can be made much more meaningful for the lives of the ordinary people, voters in Osun have come to recognise Aregbesola as the man with the magic wand, hence their readiness to vote for his party in whatever situation, he said.Adebiyi listed the employment of 20,000 youths, the release of funds to farmers through Bank of Agriculture Development to revolutionise agriculture in the state, the free eye medical treatment and the moral rebirth embarked upon by the administration as some of the reasons the electorate would continue to vote for the ACN in the state. The party chairman also urged the voters to maintain their support for the party in the House of Assembly election which would be held on April 26.
