Foreign-based players still part of Eagles -Keshi

SUPER Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has said that he has no plan to shut the door on the team's foreign-based players."It will be foolhardy of us to quickly say that we won't use our players who are based abroad in the national team anymore. So far as they are ready to play for Nigeria and they are in their best form and also fit, the door is always open to them just like the players in the league at home."We won't ignore any player doing well whether he plays here (in Nigeria) or plays abroad. But so far such a player is ready to give his best when called up to the team."There are some players abroad who are very good and it's just not possible not to give them the chance to fight for places. Also let me make it clear that we still don't have a team yet because the building process is still ongoing," the Nigerian manager said to SuperSport.com from his base in the USA.Keshi acknowledged that players from the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) have earned themselves the chance to continue to fight for players.The ex-Mali coach added that the performance of the Super Eagles was "quite okay" but wants a "better" display in future games."The game against Egypt was quite okay but I still believe we can do better than that," he said.The Nigerians are now bracing up to face Peru and Gabon in international friendly games in May though the latter is still not etched in stone.
