TO boost its current fleet size and in turn provide more cutting edge services to its teeming clients, Metro Taxi has added a total number of 150 cars to its fleet.The cars comprising largely of Kia Cerato premium automatic-driven sedan and some Peugeot 407 cars are part of the expansion programme of the company, which started operations about 18months ago with 50 units ofPeugeot 406 cars.Speaking at the inauguration of the Kia Cerato cars in Lagos recently, Chief Executive Officer, Metro Taxi CEO, Niyi Oguntoyinbo said the addition of the premium cars to the company's fleet was in line with Metro Taxi's resolve to redefine the transportation business in Lagos when the company started out in October 2010.'Metro Taxi is today, the leading taxi service provider in Lagos and is a wholly Nigerian-based organisation. Lagos is ourmetropolis and we are securing it and claiming it. We are adding150 new taxis to our fleet, as we want to be the preferred taxi of the city dwellers.'We started out with manually-driven cars but all the new 150 cars are automatic so that our pilots can drive through the Lagos traffic with ease.Wehave tailored our services to a 24-hour taxi services.Our successes in the past 18months include improvement in our meter billing system as well as in our, logistics as you can now call and have a taxi to pick you up right at your doorsteps within 15minutes,' Oguntoyinbo said.The event, which was also used to honour three of the company's 'pilots' for distinguishing themselves in their relationship with the customers and the promotion of the Metro Taxi brand.Oguntoyimbo said his company was the only company in Africa with dispatch technology', stressing that Metro Taxi had rendered efficient services to ECOWAS and Lagos State government.Speaking further, Oguntoyinbo said the company equally has some vehicles for long distant travels, adding that customers, who require such services are welcome to tap into the scheme.Specifically, he said such vehicles would not be painted in the Metro taxi colour for discreet but provides the same quality service as the painted taxis.'The meter is our identity. We are the only taxi system in Africa with dispatch technology. We can track our taxis, see their speed and what is going on in the cars. This is to protect both our assets and our customers. 'The safety of our passengers is very important to us and we've got an insurance cover to the tune of N250, 000 for a passenger in case ofaccidents with N1million cover for our driver.'We have decided to go the extra mile by providing services for some of our clients that would required to be driven outside Lagos, in fact, we can and are providing unbranded vehicles for such clients who prefers such.Ours is a professional service and we are equally ready at all times to ensure that our clients are safe and secured from point of pick up to their final destinations,' Oguntoyinbo said.Giving a forecast of the company's future plans, he said the company is projecting about 500 vehicles in its fleet in the couple of months, adding that there were plans on ground to cover all other parts of the country.
