Adamawa: Curfew imposed as houses, vehicles are burnt

A dusk to dawn curfew has been imposed in Adamawa State, following the disturbances on Sunday evening in some parts of the state.In Yola, the state capital, armed youths trooped to the streets chanting sai Buhari, while in Michika and Mubi there was also a breakdown of law and orderin reaction to the results of the presidential election.Hell was let loose as houses and vehicles were burnt down by the irate youths in Yola against the outcome of the presidential election.Worst hit were the houses and shops on Abuja Street, behind the shopping complex, as no fewer than two houses and over 10 shops and about 12 vehicles, including two relatively new Jeeps, were totally destroyed.While speaking to newsmen at the state police headquarters in Yola, the commands Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Altine Daniel, confirmed that there was crisis in Yola, Mubi and Michika.ASP Altine said over 50 persons had been arrested by the police over the Yola incident and that investigations were going on.On Mubi and Michika, she said, she had got in touch with the Area Commanders and that reports on the areas were being awaited.She said the police command did not know the cause of the crisis but disclosed thatit had arrested some people with gallons of petrol and knives.
