Security beefed up in Kogi

Following the crises in some parts of the country over Saturdays presidential election, security has been beefed up in Kogi State to forestall any spill over.The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, had convened a meeting of the security council where security operatives were said to have been placed on red alert.The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Fattai Shitu, who addressed newsmen after the meeting in his office said that security operatives in the state had been placed on red alert to forestall any spill over of the crises that greeted the result of the presidential election in some parts of the country.The police boss said that security personnel in the state would not take the issue lightly, especially in view of the fact that the crisis had spread to neighbouring towns in the Federal Capital Territory.While warning politicians who may likely cash on the political crisis in the northern part of the country tocreate problem in the state, Shitu said thatsecuritymen would deal decisively with trouble makers.The police boss assured the people of the state of adequate protection and called on them to go about their normal businesses without any fear, adding that securitymen would not compromise their responsibility.
