Salami: Oyinlola, PDP challenge MTN's claim on call logs

The former governor of Osun State,Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday, challenged MTN Nigeria's claim that it could not provide Call Data Records (CDRs) beyond three months for the phone line of any of its subscribers, saying it was a lie.Both Oyinlola and PDP had dragged the MTN Nigeria and Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on the grounds that the telecomunications outfit failed to release the full CDRs of the suspended President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami, to the National Judicial Council (NJC) which they sought to rely in proving their claims that Salami was biased in the judgment that sacked both the Osun and Ekiti states governors from office. The plaintiffs also countered the claim of MTN that it registered a phone number in the name of one Tunde Folawiyo as governor of Lagos State, arguing that no such person was at any time the governor of Lagos State. The plaintiffs further argued that MTN tampered with the call logs which made the NJC panel to hold that the call logs of MTN, which it received lacked authenticity and, therefore, could not be relied on to indict him (Salami). Meanwhile, MTN, in its statement of defence filed on Tuesday, claimed it did not have the capacity to store and release CDRs beyond three months.Reacting to MTN's statement of defence, the former governor and his prime witness, Adeolu Oyinlola, exhibited several call logs released by the telecommunications outfit which spanned over six months.
