Stakeholders meet over potholes on Lagos roads

In its bid to find a lasting solution to the problem of potholes on Lagos roads, the leadership of the Lagos State Public Works Corporation, recenty organised a forum where issues relating to the causes of potholes on the roads were discussed and solutions proffered. Lagos State Public Works Corporation is a state government agency saddled with responsiblity of maintaining the roads. The agency has been critised by Lagosians for not always doing quality jobs, hence the roads often got cracked. But speaking at the meeting, the chairman of the corporation, Gbenga Akintola, stated that most factors causing the problem of potholes were due to human behaviour. He listed some of the problems to include ways people dispose their waste in drainage, constant digging of roads, vehicles carrying excess loads, pouring of petroleum products on the roads and dragging of heavy objects on the roads.To have a pothole-free roads, it was stated that Lagosian must shun vices and activities that put pressure on the roads.
