Philanthropist donates building to OOUTH

The Public Private Partnership Initiative (PPP) received a boost last Thursday, at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, as a philanthropist donated a multimillion naira building project for relatives of patients in the hospital.At the handing-over ceremony of the building of the first Patient's Relatives Building named " Alaanu House", the acting Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Haroun Ajibode, described the gesture as a laudable, which according to him, will assist in the delivery of qualitative health care system in the hospital.The building, the acting CMD said, was first by any person or group who did not only build but furnish it for immediate use of the hospital.Dr Haroun added that the donor, Mr Babatunde Bello, who is an indigene of Sagamu, had through the donation, assisted the hospital in improving its services by making relatives of patients more comfortable while staying around to care for the patients."This donation also marks the first by any person or group who will not only build but fully furnish for immediate use of the hospital."I will therefore sincerely appreciate the donor for assisting us to be able to improve our services by making relatives more comfortable whilst staying around to support the quick recovery of our patients.Relatives of patients can be very useful in many respects, especially in psychological care of the patients," he added.He, therefore, seized the medium to solicit for more support to humanity from kind hearted indigenes of Remoland in particular and Nigeria as a whole.In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Olaokun Soyinka, noted that government needed the assistance of the Public Private Partnership to assist government, saying that government was not trying to adjudicate its responsiblity but to cover so many areas for perfect health care delivery system.The commissioner said, "The idea that not everything can be left to government, even if government could do those things, there are many things that could still be done. This is a partnership. Government working in partnership with the people."It is often a problem that relatives of patients receiving medical care in hospitals are remembered last."I really appreciate this donation because it will definitely improve the standard of health care delivery simply by assisting those who care for the patients."The donor said this gesture was borne out of his desire to contribute his own quota to the development of humanity in his community.He appealed to all well meaning sons and daughters of the community to assist in making life more comfortable to the people.
