LASPOTECH to host victorious NIPOGA team

THE victorious Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) contigent that won the 17th NIPOGA will be hosted to a civic reception.Rector of the institution, Dr. Abdulizeer Lawal, told the team after the school came top at the end of 11 days of action at the 2012 NIPOGA held in Ede, Osun State, that the school was proud of the its acheivement and would soon roll out the drums to reward the members.'We are delighted at what you have done by ensuring that Laspotech finished top among the 44 schools that took part for the first time in history of NIPOGA,' he said. 'You have demonstrated true sportmanship during the course of the Games, which means that the school is not only strong in academics but also in sports.'He later informed newsmen that the team would be adequately rewarded at a yet to be named date. Meanwhile, there are insinuations that all medallist will be presented with cash and scholarship rewards just like their predecessors that finished third at the 16th edition held in Zaria, Kaduna State, in 2010.Laspotech won 18 gold, 17 silver and 25 bronze medals to top the overall medals table ahead of host, the Federal Polytechnic, Ede. The Ikorodu giants dominated the athletics event, won gold medals in female football and female basketball events.Four years ago, the team finished sixth at the 15th edition in Ado-Ekiti. Lagos State Polytechnic also dominated the Lagos State Tertiary Games, which the Rector clamied helped the school to prepare for NIPOGA.The school will defend its crown at the 18th edition in 2013 at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State
