Don't stop League players from Eaglets - Iroha

FORMER Golden Eaglets Assistant coach under the late Coach Tella dispensation, Ben Iroha has poured cold water on the new resolve of the nation's football house to stop league players from donning the shirts of national U-17 national team- the Golden Eaglets.Iroha who posited that the measure could be counter-productive, noted that it would amount to not taking advantage of the potential that abound in the nation's league.''Who says an U-17 player cannot play in the league','' he asked. When I was on the coaching crew of bench in Heartland they had some sixteen year olds in the feeder team that eventually picked shirts in the main team. Such players should not be ruled out.''The NFF only recently hinted that of the nation's age-group national teams should go to the various football academies and secondary schools in the country.Iroha posited further that though the policy is poactive, it is not totally correct to rule out players within the age limit campaigning in the nation's league from the Eaglets.
