Fire destroys Bola Ige Market in Ibadan

THE New Gbagi Market, otherwise known as Bola Ige International Market, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday, went up in flames, destroying properties worth several millions of naira.The cause of the fire incident, which was still raging at the time of going to press, was not immediately known.Shop owners and sympa-thisers joined fire fighters to reduce the damage done by the raging inferno.The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olabisi Okuwobi, who confirmed the incident, said policemen and officials of the state fire service were making efforts to put off the fire.She said the fire started from stalls where children wears were being sold, while she ruled out power upsurge, as there had not been electricity supply to the market in the last two weeks.At the time of filing this report, she said the number of stalls affected by the incident were yet to be confirmed.
