Federation denies SAFAs claim PRESIDENT of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Aminu Maigari, will lead the federations management officers, board members and the five-man campaign team to Sudan tomorrow to support former chairman of the defunct Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Ibrahim Galadima. Galadima is bidding for the vacant international football seats formally occupied the suspended CAF/FIFA executive board member, Amos Adamu. While in Sudan, Maigari, who will storm Khartoum with NFF Ag. General Secretary, Musa Amadu, Vice President Mike Umeh and members of the Dominic Oneya-led campaign team, is expected to lobby other delegates to vote for Galadima, whose nomination as Adamus replacement for both CAF and FIFA seats received the endorsement of the Federal Government last week. Umeh told The Guardian yesterday in Abuja that the campaign team believes the Federal Governments support would help Nigeria to retain the seat. He noted that the federation has mapped out strategies to ensure that Nigeria did not lose the position because with Galadima at both CAF and FIFA executive committees, Nigeria would benefit from the their programmes. Meanwhile, the NFF has debunked claims by the President of South African Football Association (SAFA), Kirstin Namantadani, that it had reached an accord with the Nigerian body to support the candidacy of South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup LOC Chairman, Danny Jordan, for the FIFA executive committee seat. NFF Media Officer, Ademola Olajire, told journalists that the NFF could not have sealed a deal with SAFA for the FIFA seat when it had also pushed for and began campaign for its own candidate, Galadima. According to Olajire, the NFF has started consultations with other countries as well as constituted and inaugurated a campaign team for the Nigerian candidate for the CAF/FIFA seat, which election comes up on the 23rd of this month.
