Lagos holds tennis coaching clinic for kiddies

SECOND Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Tennis Association, Prince Adelowo Olateru-Olagbegi, has stressed the need for parents to encourage their wards to embrace tennis at the early stage of life.Speaking with Tribunesports at the tennis court of the National Stadium, Lagos, Olagbegi said that the just-concluded three-day coaching clinic organised by the association from was to expose youngsters in the state to basics of the game."This is just a catch them young programme because if you notice, tennis is being dominated by young men and ladies nowadays, and this is why we are trying to use this holiday period to assemble kiddies and expose them to basics of the game."I am impressed with the turnout for this clinic and we appreciate the parents for their support for this programme because they all brought their wards here. The response is highly encouraging and this programme will hold at every vacation where many kids can have the opportunity to attend," he said.Olagbegi, also lamented the decline in the standard of tennis in the country.
