We are happy; however, that presently, we have consistently achieve an average of over 120 members in all general meetings.Aladire also unfolded part of the districts plan this year to include carrier talks in secondary schools within the district and symposia where topical issues would be discussed for members and nonmembers as well as carrier development.Other members of the Aladireled Abuja district ICAN executive are: Michael Nnachi Okpara, vice chairman, Ogwezi Nwachukwu, general secretary, Mrs. Ifeoma Okpo, treasurer, Mr. Abiodun Gbakinro, financial secretary and Mrs. Rachael Eromolese, social / publicity secretary. The rest are: Funmi Oke, assistant secretary, Mr. Fred Okonta, ex- officio, Niyi Akande, ex- officio and Edwin Nwokoye, ex- officio. In a remark, the immediate past Chairman of the district, who piloted the affairs of the society for seven years, Mr. Fred Okonta expressed fulfillment that the Abuja district society was a powerful force to reckon with in the ICAN national body.Okonta, while also commending members for their support, revealed that the opportunity to serve had helped sharpen his leadership and managerial skills. He solicited for the same support for his successor. He said: You know you are dealing with a crop of professionals, some of them having more experience than yourself. So you are just a coordinator and as a link. That is why it was opportunity to broaden my knowledge and sharpen my leadership skills. The growth in membership strength is what I can adduce to be my major achievement. Because when I took over, we had only ten members, but right now, our membership is almost 150.
