At Stainless, Its Trad-Meals All The Way

Published by Guardian on Tue, 19 Apr 2011

WHO says well prepared African delicacies cant make real food statements Sure, they do especially when cooked by a professional. One of such delicacies is Ngwo-ngwo, a rich traditional dish, popular in the eastern part of Nigeria. But there is no need traveling that far to catch the fever of what this healthy- traditional meals got to offer. For the Capital city dwellers and visitors, Stainless Steal restaurant is a cool inn to be, as it prepares it nicely at Area 1, Garki, Abuja, just directly opposite the National Youth Service Corps secretariat. It offers a whole lot of Africa dishes but most inviting is the Ngwo-ngwo. Not only is the environment serene and welcoming, the architecture is African. Built like a hut with thatched roof, the ambience is so soothing. Basically prepared with lightly boiled pumpkin leaves (ugu) and garnished with fresh fried oysters, smoked fish, ugba, chopped spiced goat meat and other native seasonings, Ngwo-ngwo is simply delicious, satisfying and refreshing. It can be accompanied with eba, semovita dough, boiled rice, yam or better still, taken alone. It is one of the topnotch meals for an invalid (sick person) or a convalescent (one recovering from ill-health). This spot is often besieged by both average and heeled native food lovers and with a Disc Jockey on ground to play a kaleidoscope of sounds, the restaurant is capable of making your weekend count for fun. Enjoy it. E-mail: chimealsspotdiary@yahoo.com
