Mark to Boko Haram: No war yields positive result

Senate President David Mark yesterday decried the spate of terrorism that has claimed many lives in the country, saying 'this is uncalled for and clearly avoidable.'Reacting to yesterday's bomb attack at a Church in Bayero University Kano Mark said: 'No matter the anger or grievances in a man's mind, taking the life of another cannot provide a solution.'Mark, in a statement yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, said: 'This is ungodly; it is inhuman and does not enjoy the support of any right thinking member of the society.'The Senate president urged religious leaders across the divide to unite against forces of evil saying, 'we must collectively rise against the perpetrators of violence taking the lives of our people and property at will unchallenged, because no one knows the next victim.'He also charged the security agents to collaborate with one another and redefine their strategies for positive results, saying Nigeria has become a laughing stock on account of the unwarranted violent attacks leading to loss of precious lives and property.He sympathized with the victims and asked all Nigerians to brace up to the challenge to tackle the challenge.In another development, Mark condoled with Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomole over Saturday's accident at Auchi where three journalists died and several others injured.Mark who prayed for the souls of the deceased and quick recovery of the injured also consoled the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on the death of its members and enjoined journalists 'not to be deterred by the setback as the nation still relies on them to provide the needed road map for socio- economic and political transformation.
